It began with occasional glances at property listings, but it wasn't until July 2023 that we dove headfirst into the hunt for our dream plot. Initially, we confined our search to a smaller radius, but as time went on, our search expanded to cover up to 80 kilometers from our current residence.
Our wishlist was extensive and clearly defined:
- A plot of land close to nature
- A zoning plan permitting the construction of a flat roof – ideally on a slope but not facing north
- Budget-friendly
- At least 600 square meters in size
- With as few neighbors as possible
The most challenging part was finding a plot that met all these criteria, particularly locating one with a zoning plan suitable for our vision.
We scoured popular real estate platforms like ImmobilienScout24, Immowelt, and even Kleinanzeigen. We personally visited a few plots. We had nearly reserved a steeply sloped plot near Lake Brombach – a stroke of luck, as the owners later changed their minds.
About a month later, we stumbled upon a private listing in Kleinanzeigen that exceeded all our expectations. Following another meeting with the seller, we were finally able to schedule a notary appointment in November and call the plot our own.
Our new piece of land spans a generous 810 square meters, gently sloping to the southeast, at the end of a tranquil cul-de-sac in a residential area developed in 2020. The view of fields, a stream, and the surrounding trees is simply priceless. While the search may have been lengthy, the wait was unquestionably worthwhile.
