We are building our house for the second time. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? The first time, we built it in our imagination. Front door, facade, shape, and size - every detail was discussed, and we meticulously envisioned it. Now, it's finally happening.
But before that could occur, we had to find the right plot of land – not an easy task because we had already constructed the house in our minds, and a potential property had to align with those visions.
The Dream: Flat roof, nature, and sloping terrain
We are Ivo and Antonia. Ivo is a UI/UX designer with an eye for colors and aesthetics. In his free time, he delves into architecture and is well-versed in the real estate market, financing, and more. Antonia is a PR & Social Media editor.
Ivo had shared his desire to build a house early on. It should be built into a slope, have a flat roof, and a modern cubicle shape. After years in the city, Antonia wanted one thing above all: tranquility. An unobstructed view of the greenery, preferably from the bedroom, and the opportunity to stroll directly across fields and meadows. Antonia quickly caught onto his desire, and the dream of owning a house took more and more shape.
We couldn't start immediately. A house like this naturally needs to be paid for. So, for the time being, we were left with just dreams. Nonetheless, Ivo kept an eye on real estate offers. In the summer of 2023, we visited the first plot. We went out to the surrounding areas several times, but something always bothered us.
Sometimes it was the price, sometimes the surroundings, sometimes the zoning plan, or a combination of everything. However, we didn't need much patience. Several months later, we found our dream plot and bought it.
In this blog, we want to share our house-building journey with you. We will regularly update you on the progress, challenges, and joys of construction. We'll show you photos, videos, and tips on how to realize your dream home. We hope you accompany us on this exciting journey.
